This is the first time I've tried spinning pure silk straight from the cap. I'm a little disappointed that I haven't managed to get it quite as even as I'd like, but I do love the colour.
You have to be heavy-handed with this type of silk - the fibres are very long and strong. Hence the sore thumb! But I do have 20 yds of beautiful yarn. What can I knit with this small sample quantity?

loving the colour, why not knit a bookmark? surely there is a pattern on Rav for this yardage:-)
...or make some cord or crochet edging for something else..... I once had hair that colour... and stars ... oh my! just don't ask!
Thank you both - I hadn't thought of a bookmark and it's useful being able to search by yardage :-)
This isn't really the colour of my hair. for some reason, whatever turns my grey hair very dark brown doesn't have the same effect on the silk or wool!
What a relief! ( Purple hair - though I am still tempted by wacky colours and only resist as my daughter says she would disown me with pink, blue and green hair) great use of the dye though!
