I LOVE casting on!

This is the Sirdar luxury soft cotton DK in a beautiful ivory colour that I bought a couple of weeks ago (see Retail Therapy). I've changed my mind about what to make with it - this is the start of a Shapely Tee. The pattern for the Tee just tells you how to make the sleeves - you have to click through to the Shapely Tank to get the pattern for the body, which is (allegedly) "one of the most popular free patterns to be found on the internet". I'm about to learn how to shape using short rows. Exciting stuff!

So, how tiny are those needles, and what weight is that thread? It looks like something that could take quite awhile and would require a full-developed attention span. Good luck with it.

Thanks Robyn. The needles aren't that small - US6/UK8/4mm. I think we've all learned from your experience lol!

The yarn is quite light in weight and colour, though, and I'm a little worried that the finished item will resemble a string vest! The swatch and first few rows do look very attractive.

That's going to look good, I shall be keeping an eye on the progress. Are you like me, buy the wool first on impulse because it catches your eye and then decide what you will make with it? I have been doing that a lot lately. It is exciting starting a new item, so good luck.
